Country Music: Ruining ESPN College Gameday since 2006. Posted: 27 Aug 2009 09:43 PM PDT Country Music: Ruining ESPN College Gameday since 2006. Now, I feel like you’re getting to know me as I start to post. And I’m glad. But you know what? I have to feel feel like there’s going to be more that I need to share. Today, I’m going to talk about the problem I have with what some would call Red State America. It’s not social, it’s not political. But I’m a man with a divergent taste in music. Some would say that my taste in music is bad. But you know what? I’m willing to listen to and appreciate most things. That being said? I haven’t been watching much Gameday in recent years. Why? One of the few things that I cannot abide is the modern pop country music. I’ll go with you for Merle. George Jones has given me an earworm or two. Heck, I have an album of David Allen Coe singing Johnny Cash songs. But modern country music? As Mr. Horse would say, No Sir. I don’t like it. But seeing as Big and Rich aren’t famous enough to save horses or ride cowboys anymore. They have been kicked to the curb. And I felt relief. This so called Hick Hop was more like make me sick* hop. But who did they replace them with? This guy. Kenny flippin’ Chesney. And you know why? They’re pandering to you, SEC Fan. They think you will hear the dulcet tones of the tiny man behind “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy”, and you will bed yourself down for a day of the football. I know you’re smarter than that. You know that you don’t need a pregame show to know what to expect from the day ahead. Man, it’s like ESPN doesn’t even try anymore. Toby Keith would be the pick to click here, am I right**? *William Faulkner can Kiss my ass! I just outdrolled him. |
