| What we know, and what we don’t (Week 2) Posted: 14 Sep 2009 04:01 AM PDT What we know, and what we don’t (Week 2) I believe it was Rowdy Roddy Piper who said just when you think you know the answers, I change the question. And this is why the first few weeks I’m going to go with a what we know and what we don’t feature. Because expectations get crossed up. Teams can surprise, and teams can revert to form after playing a cucpcake. So, without any further adieu, here’s what we know. Mississippi State: Nothing's changed. They're still expected to get two wins. Though if they keep putting up 24 points or so? It could get to three or four. Vanderbilt: Hey remember when I said they played a cupcake and got a win? The instinct of mine was that they were just like last year. The Defense is good, but they don’t have a real offense. It’s a tough out. Kentucky: Bye Week. Auburn: There’s a lot of ways to insult Mississippi State, I know I’ve tried to find a few ways to get this done, but here’s the thing. They have a pretty good defense. Auburn threw up 49 on them. I’m not saying that they’re a prime candidate for a bounceback. Not yet anyway. South Carolina: You know what? I have no freaking clue about this team. Is NC State really that good on defense? Is Willie Martinez that bad? Is Stephen Garcia the answer? This was the most inexplicable shootout in a long time. I’m still shaking my head. Arkansas: Bye Week. Tennessee: You know what this is? A pure and simple reversion to form. Kiffin’s going to have to have to have a 60/40 run-pass balance to get anything done. Jonathan Crompton deserved a scholarship, he deserved an opportunity to start. But wow. He’s more done than Jake Delhomme. Georgia: The other team where nobody knows anything. After all, they put a 41 on South Carolina. And after last week? That’s a big upgrade. However? Willie Martinez’s D allowed 37 points to South Carolina. The Ginja got the duke. But there were two wildly different efforts. Next week, nothing would surprise me from UGA. Ole Miss: Bye Week. Alabama: FIU gave them a bit of a game. I wasn’t surprised. But that being said? Trent Richardson’s looking pretty good. Pretty, pretty good. LSU: They’re not exactly dominating. But this will only be disconcerting once October rolls around. These guys have had a team at their best and a tough out. I’d agree with worrying next week. But I’m not pushing any sort of panic button yet. Florida: Wake me when they lose.
