A Half-Dozen Hyper-Specific Predictions About…Georgia Posted: 02 Sep 2010 05:39 PM PDT
Fans can get spoiled. Fans can be stupid. A whole lot of 9 and 10 win seasons can become boring and hacky. It’s as true today as it was back in my day. Right now? Georgia suffers from that malaise. Also from offseason felonies. So is this another season like last year? Spoiler alert! Yes, yes it will. Paul Finebaum will call for his head. That one isn’t a spoiler. Last year: 8-5 (4-4) t2nd SEC East 1) Caleb King will be the man to lead the SEC in rushing yards. With a good year of health and Washaun Ealy deciding to do a Marshawn Lynch impression? He gets the ball early and often. 1500 yards will happen. 2) Justin Houston will find success in the 3-4 defense to the tune of pulling a Von Miller impression. 15 sacks will happen for the Bulldogs. All from Justin Houston. 3) Unfortunately, the inconsistencies of Aaron Murray will force A.J. Green to suffer the indignity of another season of 55 catches, 800 yards, and seven scores. Mark Richt will absolutely refuse to switch to Logan Gray. If he dealt with the Ginger Ninja, he will suffer Aaron Murray, redshirt Freshman. 4) The surprise of the season? While Justin Houston manages to get himself 15 sacks on the season, there will be a race to the sack leader. Cornelius Washington will fall short, but he will get himself a solid 9 sacks. Todd Grantham will have quick success with the defense. 5) Drew Butler will not maintain his ridiculous 48 yards per punt average. 44 yards per punt is nothing to sneeze at, but that’s not conduct befitting a Ray Guy award winner. (LOL, I made a punter prediction.) 6) The season will seem to be a series of two steps forward and one step back. They’re not as good as a good SEC West team. But for one day, one glorious day. This team will have everything come together. It does not mean they’re going to be a BCS contender. It may not even matter in division. But for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party? UGA will roar. This Year: 9-3 (5-3) 2nd SEC East |
LSU vs. North Carolina, 2010 Prediction Pick Posted: 02 Sep 2010 04:38 PM PDT
Even the staunchest LSU fan has to admit that Les Miles has crumpled in the last few minutes of … countless games. There is something about the last few minutes of a game that turns Les into a Junior Varsity assistant coach in charge of making sure all the kids have their mouth guards in, and not a former National Champion. The running game that was supposed to be so great last year .. was not. But, they still have a ton of talent. On the other hand Butch’s Tar Heals have a litany of future NFL talent for the first time since, … ever. The problem is that a lot of that talent is on the scout bench and will not play. This pick is simple. LSU will win, and look good doing it. LSU will most likely jump up to the top 15. North Carolina will drop out of the top 25 until their team is back on the roster. They should still do very well in a weak ACC. LSU, will ride their high horse until they meet up with West Virginia, Sept 25th. Unless West Virginia has an outbreak of agent interaction, you can expect a late game mishap by Les. Some things are easy to predict. Player of the game will be LSU’s Charles Scott with 2 TD’s and a hair over 100 yards rushing. |
A Half-Dozen Hyper-Specific Predictions About…Arkansas Posted: 02 Sep 2010 01:30 PM PDT
Everybody’s favorite sleeper from the SEC is up next on the list. And it would be a virtual impossibility not to be excited for team hoo pig sooie. 10 starters are back to run the Bobby Petrino supersystem. But will it be enough to get them to the promised land? Last Year: 8-5 (3-5) t4th SEC West. 1) The Summer of Mallett continues into the fall. With one of the deepest receiving corps in the nation and 4 returning offensive linemen? Ryan Mallett gets 4300 yards and 38 touchdowns. Also, a trip to New York. 2) In terms of running game? There will be effectiveness, but no one man will emerge as a statistical stud. Broderick Green will get 7 touchdowns. Ronnie Wingo will get 600 yards. Knile Davis will be solid as well. Combined? 1400 yards and 12 TD’s. 3) The main pass-catching beneficiary of this offensive largesse? Joe Adams. In between having a stroke, he was the team’s leader in yards per catch and tied for the lead in touchdowns. He’ll go for 70-1344-11. 4) The much-maligned defensive secondary will find themselves as heroes as they will stop two teams from winning on a two minute drill. Those two teams? Ole Miss and LSU. 5) Traditionally, Arkansas has struggled in their SEC openers, but that will change this season as they go between the Hedges and find a way to gash Georgia. 52-21 is a definite possibility. 6) But will this team go unbeaten? Nah. They could very well go 11-1 and not even get a BCS game. In fact, I think the SEC West could get to a point where the highest ranked BCS team gets the invite to the SEC Championship game. I’ll say that Arkansas doesn’t get past Alabama, but they will get one versus Auburn. /hides. This year: 11-1 (7-1) t1st SEC West |
I present to you “FrankenKiper”. Mel Kiper is going Scary ( Pic ) Posted: 02 Sep 2010 08:25 AM PDT I present to you “FrankenKiper”. Mel Kiper is going Scary ( Pic ) Seriously, is his head getting bigger. How big is his head going to get before we all hold hands across America? I understand that his hairs is his thing. That is a hot mess of a ton of hair, but why does he have it all 1.5 inches away from his skull? Is he pulling an Agassi? Is this a wig, or maybe a helmet? |
