![]() Is he going home? Will Muschamp to Georgia While only Paul Finebaum would have deigned to consider the possibility that Mark Richt was in serious trouble as a coach as we entered the season? Three straight progressively more embarrassing SEC losses have forced an ultimatum. This is a team that needs to win out. Not just beat everybody but Florida and win against Penn State in the Outback Bowl? Win out. Why? Because DeLoss Dodds is inclined to make a return to be the Texas athletic director. Okay, I’ll explain. Mack Brown has a successor in terms of a head coach in waiting. You know who we’re talking about, right? Right. Well, the plan is that DeLoss Dodds, who is currently eligible for Social Security, would retire. And when he does, Mack Brown would gracefully ascend to the athletic directorship. And Will Muschamp would coach Texas. They locked him down for the express purpose of that. Though, the contract has a provision for him to be allowed to be interviewed at a few choice schools. LSU was the school a lot of people would have expected him to be interviewing for? But the thing about Muschamp is kind of like the thing about Les Miles back in 2007. Les Miles graduated from Michigan. And Will Muschamp? He was born in Rome and graduated between the Hedges. Texas may be a dream job for any head coach. But barring a miracle? Will Muschamp has an opportunity to be the conquering hero. Or at least restore the bite. |
