An Ugly Undercard this Week in the SEC. SEC Week 10 Prediction Pick Briefs Featuring Florida at Vanderbilt It’s going to be a real quiet week in the SEC beyond the marquee. There’s no battles for third place in a division this week. Like last year. The first week in November inspires little. So let’s discuss the ennui. Previously on… Ole Miss (-28) vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Tennessee (-20) at Memphis Florida (-14) at Vanderbilt |

LSU does have something to play for. After all, they did get jobbed last year. LSU vs. Alabama, Prediction Pick 2010 Look at this matter on a purely statistical level, I could sincerely end this post with a three words. Alabama’s gonna win. Seriously. LSU is kind of an ugly team that got by on more crook than hook. But you’re going to be expecting at least 150 to 200 more words on this, so I’ll break down the salient points for LSU to win the day. First, and most obvious. Win the turnover battle. Right now this is a good team in terms of generating turnovers (16), but they’ve also given up 18 turnovers. Alabama’s not going to be making near the amount of mistakes as LSU could make. So efficiency would be a key. And by that respect. I know that this would cause angina in Baton Rouge, but starting Jarrett Lee would give LSU the best chance to win. Lee as a Freshman was scary. But he’s shown himself to be a competent game manager, though admittedly with a small sample size. But the fact of the matter here is that Jordan Jefferson is not a dual threat quarterback. He can run to be sure. But 60 percent of the pass attempts in a game usually belong to Jefferson. And LSU is 113th in passing in large part because of it. But that being said? The third thing they need to do is get Alabama into the obvious passing situation. If they can keep Alabama in multiple 3rd and 8 and whatnot? Then they can pass rush. And Alabama’s one major weakness that LSU can exploit. Sacks. Alabama’s given up 22. Good for 100th. It would allow Drake Nevis and or Kelvin Sheppard and or Ryan Baker to get untracked. Greg McElroy must go down and go down hard if LSU is to win. Les Miles is an X-Factor. Weird things always happen when he plays in the SEC. One singular utterance on the twitter of woeojuwejhdjwe and he’s got seven straight wins. And last year, if you recall, the Pat Patterson got jobbed on one of the many classic SEC calls of 2009. So the question returns? Can LSU win this? No, but they will cover in a defensive shootout. Alabama 14, LSU 9. |
| South Carolina vs. Arkansas Prediction Pick 2010 Posted: 04 Nov 2010 07:49 PM PDT
Now while the battle between Alabama and LSU is going to take the prime time energies of the SEC faithful, the real game of the week is going to be here. Ryan Mallett versus Marcus Lattimore. Stephon Gilmore versus Joe Adams. All sorts of fun. Why? Because clearly Arkansas is going to have a fine day throwing the ball. South Carolina can generate a semblance of a pass rush. But at the rate players in the secondary are dropping, Mallett will not be missing Greg Childs. At least not this week. 300 yards and 3 scores will happen. But that being said? Anyone who thinks Arkansas is going to cruise is kidding themselves. Marcus Lattimore is healthy and in full beast mode. South Carolina will keep moving the chains because of it. Arkansas is not good at stuffing the run (78th), and for this week? Having to have a front seven that’s facing down Marcus Lattimore is bad news bears. Lattimore means first downs. Lattimore means trips to the red zone, and quite frankly, Lattimore means touchdowns. And while a healthy Knile Davis has been a good thing for the Hogs? South Carolina’s rush defense is legitimate. He’s not going to make it a third straight win. How this is going to go down. Lattimore and Mallett get three touchdowns. Mallett and Garcia will trade an interception or two. Arkansas is going to have three redzone possessions generate 9 points. And Alshon Jeffrey is going to win the game. South Carolina 31, Arkansas 30. |
