![]() Even the NCAA was embarrassed by Alabama's PA Song Choices. Cam Newton Eligible! Today, the NCAA has issued a press release that has declared Cam Newton eligible to compete. Not that there was not wrongdoing committed by Cecil Newton and go-between’s for Mississippi State, but after a brief period of ineligibility. The NCAA reinstatement committee has declared Cam eligible for play. Cleared. And eligible. I have to say that while I’m not exactly thrilled that there are no wins and no penalties that seem to be on the table right now. Because the odds are small at best that Cam wasn’t in on the recruiting process, but that being said? There is one fact that we must remember. The NCAA Reinstatement Committee does not fall under the purview of the Enforcement Committee. So yeah. It’s all a part of the serpentine pretzel logic of the NCAA. Because right now there’s a problem. Right now, if I was a hotshot? I would designate a family member to see what sort of an offer I could get. He’d take the fall if it breaks bad? But his big punishment is that he couldn’t talk to a rival school. “So you’re saying I can’t talk to Alabama’s Wide Receivers Coach, anymore? Okay.” I grant the probability that this could change by 2016. But that being said? Right now, you can add the NCAA to entities tarnished by this whole thing. |
